History - 131st IATP Conference

 

 

1948

A few European airlines started sharing aircraft materials, equipment and manpower resources. This cooperation, although covered by a contract, was a gentlemen's agreement and entirely reciprocal without financial settlement.

1950

By this year, more international airlines had joined the group and it became difficult to maintain a reciprocal balance of pooled resources, so formulas were introduced to provide financial settlement.

1959

By February, the pooling agreement was signed by the first 3 airlines: Air France, British Airways and Qantas.

1960

In March, at a meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, the "Consolidated Pool" was formed under the guidance of a "Steering Committee".

1962

By December, 21 Airlines were members of the organization.

1967

In February, the organization's name was changed to "International Airlines Technical Pool" and has been known since that date, throughout the world, as IATP.

1977

A second organization, the "North American Airlines Technical Pool" (N.A.A.T.P.), consisting of 16 airlines from North America, merged with IATP in February 1977.

1985

By February, 60 Airlines were members of the IATP.

2000

The IATP commissioned an outside consulting firm to review IATP’s operations and management.

2003

Establishment of the first IATP Administrative and Operational Office at Frankfurt Airport and hiring of the local staff.

2004

16 OEM’s / Service Providers were allowed to join the organization as “Associate Members”.

2005

Transfer of the IATP Administrative and Operational Office in Luxembourg with permanent, paid staff. Creation of the www.iatp.com website and implementation of a new online conference registration system.

2009

100th Conference in Lucerne, Switzerland.

2011

New platform introduction with the aim of having simplified operations, centralized information and enhanced communication.

2012

IATP starts using the automated ICH invoicing – Simplified Interline Settlement (SIS).

2013

IATP adds 12 Aircraft Recovery kit to the Aircraft Recovery Pool Group.

2014

Introduction of online meeting scheduler designed to simplify Business-to-Business meetings.

2016

Implementation of an automated presence detection system during plenary sessions.

2018

IATP welcomes 7 new Airline Members – an important success for the organization.

2019

Transfer of the IATP Corporate Office to a newly-purchased facility.
New platform introduction with enhanced operations, new functionalities, and user-friendly design.

2020

First virtual Conference due to the Covid-19 outbreak and release of a completely reviewed, better structured, and more user-friendly IATP Organization Manual.

2021

Evaluation of a new IATP Organization’s corporate governance.

2022

Submission to and approval by the Members of the new IATP (two-tier) Corporate Governance at the March and October Conferences.

2023

Implementation of the new IATP (two-tier) Corporate Governance, on February 1st.

2024

Launch of the Engines Pool Group.
IATP Membership reaches a record of 135 Airline and 43 Associate Members.
